Growing up fast and loud, The Linda Lindas return with No Obligation, the Los Angeles punk band's second full-length and a bright, confident leap forward after their viral breakthrough in 2021.
Released in 2024 on Epitaph, it was written and recorded during school breaks and long weekends, with producer Carlos de la Garza behind the desk. Eloise Wong, Lucia and Mila de la Garza and Bela Salazar all write and sing, and the record moves between punk, power pop, new wave and Spanish-language rock with real ease and plenty of personality. Big tours and bigger stages since their debut have clearly sharpened them.
The title track "No Obligation" charges in with a big-hearted hook, "All in My Head" turns spiraling thoughts into a crunchy singalong, and "Too Many Things" keeps the pace breathless. "Yo Me Estreso" brings "Weird Al" Yankovic along for a joyful Spanish-language rush, proof that the band never take themselves too seriously even when the guitars get loud.
Fierce and full of heart, it captures a band growing up in public without losing its spark. Put it on loud, shout along with the gang vocals and let the record remind you why punk was always meant to be fun. It is a record that sounds best shared with friends.
