Between 2008 and 2011, the New Jersey band were releasing singles at a steady clip, and each one came with extras that most fans never heard. Their former label SideOneDummy collected those cuts in 2014, months before Get Hurt arrived, offering a glimpse of Brian Fallon and company at their loosest. Acoustic reworkings of fan favorites sit alongside covers that reveal just how wide the band's record collection really ran, from 1960s pop to 1990s alternative rock.

Their take on the Beatles' She Loves You opens the record with bar-band enthusiasm, and Tumbling Dice gives the Rolling Stones classic a scrappy Jersey shuffle. Stripped back to an acoustic arrangement, The '59 Sound reveals how sturdy Fallon's songwriting really is, its big chorus landing just as hard without the amplifiers. A live version of Pearl Jam's State of Love and Trust nods to the band's love of grunge-era rock, and it was the only single pulled from the set.

It's a fan's record in the best sense, warm and unpolished, and a fine companion piece to The '59 Sound and American Slang on the shelf.
