Three decades after the cameras rolled, The Cranberries' MTV Unplugged finally has a record of its own, capturing Dolores O'Riordan's voice at its most unguarded.

Taped in 1995 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the set landed at the height of the No Need to Argue era, when the Limerick four had become one of the biggest bands on the planet. Stripping those songs back to acoustic guitars and a small string section was a gamble, and it paid off handsomely.

The setlist leans on the songs that made them. "Linger" trades its studio sheen for gentle strumming and strings, "Ode to My Family" becomes a hushed, swaying hymn, and "Zombie" keeps every ounce of its fury even without the wall of distortion. The real treasure might be "Yesterday's Gone", a tender, aching performance that shows how much space O'Riordan could fill with a single held note.

The running order plays like an intimate concert rather than a hits package, with the band's playing loose and warm and the audience hanging on every word. Noel Hogan's guitar parts sound especially lovely in this setting, chiming and unhurried.

For anyone who remembers the broadcast, this is a long overdue arrival, and for newcomers it is a moving portrait of a singer the world lost far too soon.
