The World According to The Clash finally gets a proper release, an 11-track hits set first pressed in 1982 for American radio and never sold in shops, arriving on 140 gram orange vinyl.

The original promo was put together so US DJs could pick out the band's standout songs. This new edition has been freshly remastered and given new artwork, and it adds The Magnificent Seven at Mick Jones's request, a fitting nod to the band's restless, genre-hopping spirit.

Side one opens with the strut of Rock the Casbah and closes on the funk and rap experiments of The Magnificent Seven, with punk fury and a rockabilly stomp in between. Side two is a gauntlet, running from Paul Simonon's dub-heavy The Guns of Brixton to a defiant London Calling, before the biggest singalong of their career sends everyone home shouting.

Most of these songs date from 1979 to 1982, the stretch when The Clash were at their most ambitious, sprawling across punk, reggae, rockabilly, funk and beyond while still sounding like four people in a room with the amps turned up.

Sequenced as a radio-ready primer, it works beautifully for newcomers and lifers alike, and the orange vinyl makes it a bright addition to any punk shelf.
