The Black Keys' Brothers is the breakthrough that carried an Akron blues-rock duo into the mainstream, coming to a limited 2LP pressing on coke bottle green clear vinyl.

Released in 2010, their sixth album was recorded largely at the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama, with Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney producing alongside Mark Neill. Danger Mouse stepped in for Tighten Up, the whistling, swaggering single that became their biggest hit to that point, and the album went on to win the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.

Everlasting Light opens with Auerbach's falsetto gliding over a fuzzy, stomping groove, a gutsy left turn that sets the tone for everything after. Howlin' for You struts on a primal, glam-rock beat, and Next Girl slinks along with soulful menace.

Fifteen songs across four sides give the album room to stretch, which suits its loose, sweaty swagger and the deep-cut gems tucked into the second half. The production is warm and gritty, full of fuzz bass, tambourine and vintage organ, as if the whole thing were cut in a single humid summer.

It remains the band's richest, most soulful hour, and the sound of two friends from Ohio discovering just how big they could get.
