The Band's Jubilation, the group's final studio album from 1998, returns as a limited anniversary edition on clear blue vinyl.

Recorded at Levon Helm's home studio in Woodstock, it was the first record since Robbie Robertson's departure to feature more originals than covers. Rick Danko, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson were joined by Jim Weider, Randy Ciarlante and Richard Bell, with producer Aaron "Professor Louie" Hurwitz also adding keyboards. Danko's death the following year made it the last word from The Band, and it carries a warmth that feels like a gathering of old friends around a kitchen table.

Eric Clapton adds stinging guitar to "Last Train to Memphis", while John Hiatt lends his voice to "Bound by Love". "White Cadillac (Ode to Ronnie Hawkins)" tips its hat to the rockabilly boss whose backing band they once were, and Garth Hudson's solo instrumental "French Girls" closes the record on a delicate, wistful note. Levon's voice remains as warm and weathered as ever, and the playing has an easy, front-porch looseness.

It is a fitting, generous final chapter, full of the earthy roots music that made The Band legends in the first place. The clear blue pressing gives a long-overlooked record a well-deserved spotlight on the turntable.
