Super Atomic marks the return of The Aggrolites, the Los Angeles champions of dirty reggae, with their first studio album since 2019's Reggae Now!
Formed in 2002 and first known as a backing band for Jamaican legend Derrick Morgan, the group built their sound from 1960s soul, funk and early skinhead reggae. Years of nearly constant touring sharpened that blend, and these sessions were approached as a chance to capture what the band does best, with every part earning its place.
Lead single "Till the Wheels Fall Off" catches the band's live energy as well as anything they've recorded. "Musical Muse" pays tribute to the spark that keeps them creating, while the title track and "Boots on the Terrace" lock into tight, organ-driven grooves built for packed dance floors.
Jesse Wagner's soulful vocals ride on top of Roger Rivas's bubbling organ and a rhythm section that never lets the skank drop. The lyrics balance grit with uplift, celebrating dedication to the music and to the people who keep showing up for it night after night.
Raw, warm and impossibly danceable, Super Atomic carries the dirty reggae torch with pride. It's a welcome comeback for longtime fans and a perfect introduction for anyone who likes their reggae with a bit of soul and swagger.
