Yours Conditionally returns as a deluxe edition with a booklet and coloured vinyl, a fitting tribute to the album where Tennis took full control of their own story.
Husband-and-wife duo Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley had already made a name with sun-dappled indie pop when they set out to write their fourth album, taking to the water on a sailing trip meant to spark new songs. Released in 2017 on their own Mutually Detrimental label, it was also the first record they produced entirely themselves, and that independence shows in every arrangement.
Moore's voice has never sounded more assured. "In the Morning I'll Be Better" glides on soft-rock keys and a sweetly hopeful melody, while "Ladies Don't Play Guitar" takes aim at the gatekeeping she faced as a woman in a band, delivered with a smile and a sting. "My Emotions Are Blinding" and "Modern Woman" lean into seventies AM-radio warmth, all lush harmonies and unhurried grooves.
With the duo having stepped away from Tennis after a farewell tour in 2025, this reissue lands as both a celebration and a keepsake.
Anyone who first heard these songs on a summer drive will find they still shimmer just as brightly, with a booklet to linger over while side two plays.
