Susanna Hoffs keeps her remarkable late-career run rolling with The List, a set of original songs she co-wrote, produced by multi-instrumentalist CJ Camerieri.

Since 2021 the Bangles singer has been on a creative tear, following Bright Lights with The Deep End and The Lost Record while also publishing her debut novel. This new album leans into her strengths as a writer, and she gathered an impressive circle of collaborators to help bring it to life, including Rufus Wainwright, Edie Brickell, Dan Wilson and Jesse Harris, with pedal steel great Greg Leisz also in the mix.

That voice, bright and gently wistful, sounds as fresh as it did on the Bangles' earliest records. The album opens with Casablanca and closes with What Are Wings For, with None of Them Were You and Vertigo among the songs in between, and Camerieri, whose credits run from Paul Simon to Bon Iver, brings a seasoned ear to the arrangements.

It's the work of an artist comfortable in her own skin and still endlessly curious about where a song can go next.

For fans who have followed her from the Paisley Underground to now, The List is a warm, grown-up record well worth a place on the shelf.
