Supertramp's ...Famous Last Words... returns on 180-gram vinyl cut from a half-speed master, a fitting upgrade for the 1982 album that closed the band's classic era.

Following Breakfast in America was never going to be easy, and the sessions were shaped by Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies pulling toward different visions. It became Hodgson's last album with the group, and plenty of fans read the title and the cover art as hints of the split to come.

The songs still land with that polished, radio-ready glow. "It's Raining Again" is Hodgson at his most melodic, a rainy-day singalong with a bounce in its step, while "Crazy" makes for a bright, catchy opener. Davies counters with "Put On Your Old Brown Shoes", where Ann and Nancy Wilson join on backing vocals, and the closing "Don't Leave Me Now" bows out with real ache.

Produced by the band with Peter Henderson and Russel Pope, the album leans into lush keyboards, John Helliwell's saxophone and string arrangements by Richard Hewson, trading some of the old prog adventure for warmth and gloss.

Half-speed mastering suits this kind of detailed studio sheen, and the record sits neatly beside the rest of the band's 1970s and early 1980s run, a bittersweet farewell from one of the era's great songwriting partnerships.
