Sparks' Music That You Can Dance To turns 40 as a deluxe double LP on 180-gram gold vinyl, with a second disc of extended mixes to keep the party going.

Released in 1986, it caught Ron and Russell Mael at their most unashamedly synth-pop, years after No. 1 in Heaven had first rewired their sound with electronics. The brothers wrote and produced the album themselves, and it remains one of the slickest records of their mid-eighties run, a reminder that the duo's sharp wit works just as well under a spinning mirror ball.

The title track is a glossy, wry floor-filler that winks at its own premise, Rosebud swoons with cinematic drama, and their cover of Stevie Wonder's Fingertips is every bit as cheeky as it sounds. Russell's soaring vocals glide over drum machines and gleaming synths, while Ron's keyboard arrangements stay as precise and playful as ever.

The second record adds the single Change alongside extended club versions of several album favourites, the kind of twelve-inch mixes once prized by DJs and collectors alike.
