Skillet head back toward their heavier roots on After the Storm, a six-song EP released independently in 2026.
Nearly thirty years into a career that made them one of modern rock's most durable names, the band chose a compact format for one of their most personal statements. John Cooper has said he wrote these songs because he needed to be lifted out of his own darkness, and that honesty runs through the whole set. Korey Cooper produced it alongside David Cowell of Sleep Theory, keeping the focus on big guitars and bigger hooks.
Lead single "Lift Me Up" calls back to early Skillet while still sounding current, a reminder that hope remains when life feels overwhelming. "Scream" opens the EP with real force, and "Grave Stomper" leans into the harder edge that longtime fans have been asking for. Closer "Come and Find Me" rounds out a tight, purposeful run with no filler in sight.
The lineup of John Cooper on vocals and bass, Korey Cooper on guitar and keys, Jen Ledger on drums and Seth Morrison on lead guitar sounds locked in and hungry, playing like a band with something to prove.
Short and sincere, After the Storm gives longtime listeners a reason to turn it up, and anyone new to Skillet an easy way in.
