With Love at First Sting, Scorpions hit their commercial stride in 1984, delivering a lean, hook-packed slab of hard rock that became their defining record.

Produced by longtime collaborator Dieter Dierks, the album sharpened the German band's sound into something built for arenas, with Klaus Meine's soaring vocals and the twin-guitar attack of Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs front and centre. Francis Buchholz and Herman Rarebell keep the engine room tight, giving every riff a solid, stomping foundation.

Rock You Like a Hurricane is the obvious headliner, its chugging riff and shouted chorus a fixture of rock radio ever since. Bad Boys Running Wild opens the album with swaggering menace, Big City Nights celebrates neon-lit nightlife with a fist in the air, and Still Loving You closes things with a sweeping, emotional power ballad.

Every song is tight and memorable, balancing raw muscle with melody, and the production still sounds big and punchy on a good system. Dierks gives the guitars a glossy, razor-edged finish without sanding off their bite, which is exactly why these songs still sound so huge.
