Trompe Le Monde finally makes its grand return to vinyl, and oh, it’s been worth the wait. Pressed on audiophile-quality 180-gram vinyl, this reissue brings the raw, frenetic energy of the Pixies' fourth studio album back to glorious analog life.
Originally released in 1991, Trompe Le Monde finds the band leaning harder into sci-fi themes and shredding guitars, pushing their signature sound into sharper, faster territory.
Tracks like “Planet of Sound” blast off with fuzzed-out aggression, while “Alec Eiffel” and “U-Mass” bounce with angular hooks and sardonic wit. Of course, Black Francis’s love of surreal lyrics and space-age chaos is on full display - just try not to grin at the blistering pace of “Space (I Believe In)” or the eerie calm of their cover of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Head On.”
This LP marks a turning point in the Pixies’ evolution. It’s heavier, punchier, and sonically denser than its predecessors, yet still full of that signature off-kilter charm.
