Pink Floyd's 1987 comeback A Momentary Lapse of Reason gets a 180 gram pressing in a gatefold sleeve, marking the moment David Gilmour steered the band into a new era.

With Roger Waters gone and a legal battle over the band's name still rumbling, few expected much from this record. Gilmour, Nick Mason and a returning Richard Wright proved the doubters wrong, and the album became a huge commercial success, launching a world tour that played to millions.

Co-produced with Bob Ezrin, the sound is glossy and expansive, rich with layered guitars, booming drums and gleaming synthesisers. "Learning to Fly", inspired by Gilmour's flying lessons, became a radio staple, while "On the Turning Away" builds from a hushed plea into a soaring solo. "Signs of Life" opens proceedings with the sound of oars on water and ambient calm, and "Sorrow" closes the album with one of Gilmour's heaviest, most cavernous guitar tones.

The Storm Thorgerson cover, with hundreds of real hospital beds lined up on a Devon beach, remains one of the most striking images in the band's catalogue, and it looks magnificent at full size.

For fans who came aboard in the late eighties, this is the Floyd that filled stadiums around the world, and it sounds superb on heavyweight vinyl.
