Phil Collins' The Singles arrives here as a limited edition coloured 2LP, nineteen hits that trace four decades of a voice nobody mistakes for anyone else.

The story starts in 1981 with "In The Air Tonight," a brooding solo debut single built on a drum machine, heartbreak and that thunderous fill, and it runs through a remarkable streak in the middle of the decade. By then Collins was balancing Genesis with a solo career that seemed to place a song on every radio dial at once.

Side one moves from that midnight tension to the muscular duet "Easy Lover" with Philip Bailey, all bright guitar and two-voice swagger. "Sussudio" brings the brass and the bounce, while "Another Day In Paradise" turns his gift for melody toward homelessness and empathy, proof that a hit could carry a conscience.

The later sides gather the reflective ballads of the 1990s and the warmer, looser turns of his later work, closing on a joyful Motown tribute. Played in sequence, it works as both a party record and a quiet late-night companion, which is exactly the range that made him such a fixture of the era.
