John Dwyer's Osees have always been a band best experienced at close range, and Live in Los Angeles puts you right at the lip of the stage across two colored LPs.
The record was captured over three shows of a six-show residency at the Teragram Ballroom in 2025, with Dwyer leading a six-piece lineup that includes longtime collaborator Brigid Dawson. It is the latest in a long run of live documents from a group that has changed names, members and cities over the years without ever slowing down, following studio albums such as Abomination Revealed at Last.
The fourteen songs mix sprawling workouts with short, sharp blasts, which is exactly how an Osees show tends to feel. The Dream and Poison Finger snap and lurch with that familiar garage-punk urgency, while Block of Ice closes the set in a final rush of noise. Crushed Grass gets things started at full tilt, and the band never really lets up from there, piling up riffs, yelps and rhythmic momentum until the room is soaked.
It is raw and gloriously unhinged, the sound of a band that treats every gig like the last one.
If you have ever left an Osees show with your ears ringing, this set brings the residency home.
