Oliver Sim, songwriter, bassist and vocalist of The xx, releases his debut album 'Hideous Bastard', produced by his bandmate Jamie xx. After two years of writing and recording, Sim has drawn inspiration from horror movies and his own life to express themes of shame, fear, and masculinity. His new single "Hideous" features his lifelong hero and "guardian angel" Jimmy Somerville, and a video by French director Yann Gonzalez - with whom Sim also collaborated on a queer horror short film for the Cannes Film Festival. At seventeen, Sim was diagnosed with HIV and speaks openly of it on the single. Vinyl LP pressing.
