Noah Kahan's Stick Season lands as a green double LP UK import, the folk-pop love letter to New England that turned a small-town songwriter into one of music's most beloved new voices.
Kahan's third studio album was written in his hometown of Strafford, Vermont, during the pandemic and released in 2022. Burned out by industry pressure, he stepped away from his earlier indie pop polish toward something rawer and rootsier, producing it alongside Gabe Simon. The title track had already caught fire online long before its official release, so the album landed with an audience already waiting for it. Every detail feels lived in.
"Stick Season" sets the tone with bright acoustic strumming and a lyric about heartbreak in the grey gap between autumn and winter. "Northern Attitude" digs into the guardedness of growing up somewhere cold, "She Calls Me Back" aches with small-town romance, and "Homesick" sneaks real frustration into a singalong about loving and resenting the place you come from.
Mental health and the pull of home run through every song, and that specificity is exactly what makes it feel universal. Spread across two discs, it is a record to live with through every dark afternoon, ideally with a flannel shirt and a mug of something hot.
