New Found Glory's Sticks and Stones is pop punk at its brightest and most bruised, back on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl.

Released in 2002, the Florida band's third album was produced by Neal Avron and became their big breakthrough, carrying them from the punk club circuit into the mainstream. Jordan Pundik's nasal yelp, Chad Gilbert's crunchy guitars and the band's knack for gang-vocal choruses made it a defining record of its moment, and a blueprint for a generation of bands.

My Friends Over You is the big one, a heartbreak anthem built for screaming along in a car with the windows down. Understatement opens the album at full speed, Head On Collision balances crunch with sweet melody, and Something I Call Personality brings a cheeky, bouncing swagger that is hard to resist.

Beneath the breakdowns and buzzing guitars, the songs are full of heartbreak, loyalty and friendship, which is exactly why they still hit home with every new wave of pop punk fans. Avron's production is punchy and polished without sanding off the band's scrappy charm, and the drums hit like a slammed locker door.

Two decades on, this 180-gram pressing is a sturdy home for a record that has never stopped being somebody's favorite, and never stopped sounding like summer.
