The Damned slip into disguise on Give Daddy the Knife Cindy, a limited edition of 500 copies on purple vinyl that is equal parts garage-rock tribute and elaborate prank.

Released in 1984 under the fictional banner of Naz Nomad and the Nightmares, the album took great delight in pretending to be something else entirely. It was packaged as the reissue of a 1967 soundtrack to a low-budget American horror film that never existed, giving the Damned licence to cover all manner of 1960s classics with wild abandon.

Nobody But Me, originally by the Human Beinz, kicks things off with a stomp, Action Woman revisits the Litter with swagger, and The Wind Blows Your Hair brings the Seeds’ psychedelic fuzz into the Damned’s rowdy orbit. Side two opens with I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night), a perfect slice of garage-psych romance.

With the Damned still red hot and celebrating 50 years in 2026, this is the perfect moment to revisit their most mischievous detour.
