May Death Never Stop You gathers the best of My Chemical Romance into one sweeping, theatrical retrospective, first released in 2014.

Arriving after the band's split, the collection spans their career from 2001 to 2013, tracing their rise from scrappy New Jersey upstarts to the arena-filling architects of The Black Parade. It opens with the previously unreleased Fake Your Death, a piano-led farewell from the band's final sessions that sets a bittersweet tone for everything that follows.

Helena and I'm Not Okay (I Promise) remain thrilling bursts of emo catharsis, all ragged guitars and screamed-along choruses. Welcome to the Black Parade still sounds like a rock opera crammed into five minutes, building from a lone piano note into a full-blown marching anthem. The collection also stops off in the neon, comic-book world of Danger Days before closing with a handful of raw early demos.

Gerard Way's dramatic vocals and the band's blend of punk energy and grand melody are front and centre throughout. Heard back to back, the songs show how quickly the band grew, and how consistently they wrote for the outsiders in the crowd.

For newcomers it's a natural entry point, and for longtime fans it's a reminder of how much ground the band covered, all gathered in one place.
