Sigh No More is the debut that put banjos back on the radio, and this UK import pressing brings Mumford & Sons' breakout album to the turntable.

Released in 2009, the album came out of London's folk scene with producer Markus Dravs, who captured the band's foot-stomping live energy without sanding off its rough edges. Marcus Mumford's kick drum, Ben Lovett's keys and Ted Dwane's upright bass build a sound that feels rustic and huge at once. Its literary streak runs deep, from a title borrowed from Much Ado About Nothing to "Timshel" and its nod to East of Eden, and it went on to become one of the defining records of the folk-rock revival.

"Little Lion Man" is the explosive centerpiece, Marcus Mumford's raw-throated self-reproach riding a galloping banjo from Winston Marshall. "The Cave" builds from quiet picking into a cathartic, stomping singalong, and "Awake My Soul" slowly swells into one of the album's most moving moments, its gentle harmonies blooming into a full-band rush.

For anyone who remembers the first time those kick drums and banjos hit, this pressing is a welcome return. It still sounds like a crowded room on a cold night, everyone singing a little too loud and meaning every word.
