Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning (Original Soundtrack) [2LP Light Blue & Blue] Vinyl
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning arrives on 2LP as the eighth chapter's score, handed to newcomers Max Aruj and Alfie Godfrey for what's being billed as the franchise's biggest, most consequential entry yet.
Every Mission: Impossible score has to answer to Lalo Schifrin's original theme while somehow still sounding like its own decade, and this franchise has quietly become a proving ground for major composers, Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, Danny Elfman, Lorne Balfe all taking a turn before Aruj and Godfrey inherited it. Rather than play it safe with a series this established, they leaned into the scale of what Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie were attempting, matching genuinely audacious action filmmaking with a score built for equivalent weight rather than just recycling the theme on command.
Liftoff carries the score's clearest sense of pure momentum, propulsive in the way this franchise's best action cues have always demanded. A Light We Cannot See is the record's most restrained, atmospheric stretch, proof the pair could handle tension without leaning on volume alone. Main Titles reintroduces Schifrin's theme with real reverence, and Curtain Call closes the score on the kind of finality its title promises for a film billed as the series' culmination.
Forty-two tracks across two records, composers new to the franchise proving they understood exactly what the assignment demanded.
