Michael Jackson's Thriller needs no introduction, but this red and black marble pressing gives the biggest pop album ever made a suitably dramatic new coat.

Released in 1982 and produced by Quincy Jones, Thriller turned Jackson from superstar into a worldwide phenomenon. Its videos changed what music television could be, its singles crossed every radio format going, and decades later it is still routinely cited as the best-selling album of all time.

The hits are wall to wall. "Billie Jean" rides one of the most famous basslines in history, cool and paranoid all at once, while "Beat It" brings in Eddie Van Halen for a blazing guitar solo that knocked down the wall between rock and R&B. The title track is pure B-movie fun, complete with Vincent Price's ghoulish spoken-word finale, and "Human Nature" floats on a soft-focus synth haze that shows Jackson at his most tender. Across just nine tracks, there is barely a second that has not become part of pop's shared memory.
