Breakfast, lunch and supervillainy are on the menu as MM..FOOD returns in a 20th Anniversary Edition reissue, spread across two LPs and every bit as flavourful as the day it was served.

Released on Rhymesayers in 2004, the album landed during an astonishing run for the late MF DOOM, the same year that brought Madvillainy with Madlib. Nearly every song title is a food pun, and between the verses, warped samples and short instrumental interludes stitch the menu together into a funny, wholly singular concept record.

"Beef Rapp" opens with DOOM sharpening his knives on rival MCs, and "Hoe Cakes" rides a breezy, sample-heavy beat packed with some of his most quotable lines. On "Potholderz", Count Bass D trades verses with the masked villain, while "Rapp Snitch Knishes" takes aim at informants with gleeful, deadpan menace.

DOOM's delivery is the main ingredient: dense internal rhymes, sly non sequiturs and a low, unhurried flow that makes every bar sound effortless. The production is warm and dusty, stitched together from obscure records in a way only he could manage.

Two decades later, it remains a favourite among DOOM devotees and an ideal entry point for anyone curious about why his name is spoken with such reverence.
