Dave Mustaine signs off in style with Megadeth, the band's self-titled 2026 farewell album, spread across two LPs with room for every last riff.

Announced as the final Megadeth record and paired with a farewell tour, it carries four decades of thrash history without ever sounding like a museum piece. Mustaine produced it with Chris Rakestraw, and the lineup finds Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari trading leads with the boss, James LoMenzo back on bass for the first time since Endgame, and Dirk Verbeuren driving the machine from behind the kit.

Lead single "Tipping Point" opens with the kind of serrated, palm-muted attack that built the band's name, while "Let There Be Shred" is exactly the celebration of guitar heroics its title promises. "I Don't Care" keeps the tempo up and the attitude sour, and "The Last Note" closes the main album with a title that says it all.

Then comes the twist. A reimagined "Ride The Lightning" rounds out the set as a bonus track, Mustaine reclaiming a song he co-wrote before his exit from Metallica and finally putting his own stamp on it.

For anyone who has followed Megadeth since the 1985 debut, this is the last word, and it is suitably loud.
