Marissa Nadler’s For My Crimes is a haunting confessional dressed in layers of reverb, sorrow, and stark beauty. Known for her ethereal voice and cinematic storytelling, Nadler dives deeper than ever into themes of guilt, love, and emotional exile on this mesmerizing 2018 release.
The album opens with the chilling title track, where Nadler pleads for forgiveness over a gently weeping guitar, joined by Angel Olsen’s ghostly harmonies. It sets the tone for a collection of songs that feel like love letters written at the edge of sleep - aching, dreamy, and unflinchingly honest. Tracks like “Blue Vapor” and “Are You Really Going to Move to the South?” pulse with slow-burning intensity, while “Interlocking” and “Said Goodbye to That Car” offer whispered reflections on the quiet devastation of letting go.
