Three songs, one cluttered office and Mac Miller sounding completely at ease: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert captures one of the series' best-loved sets on vinyl.

The performance was filmed at NPR's headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2018, the year Swimming revealed a quieter, more searching Mac. Backed by a live band and stripped of studio gloss, these songs gained a looseness that suited their honesty, and this pressing gave the set its first life on vinyl in 2023.

All three songs come from Swimming. Small Worlds opens with a lazy, sun-warmed guitar figure and Mac's half-sung reflections. What's the Use? brings in Thundercat, whose elastic bass gives the groove a slippery, playful bounce. 2009 closes the set on a tender note, a song about growing up and letting go that lands even harder in such an intimate setting.

What makes the record special is the space around the music. You can hear the players leaning into each other, the small reactions between songs and the gentle hush when Mac settles into a verse. It is warm and unhurried, and quietly moving in hindsight.
