The Chicago rapper has spent more than a decade perfecting a style that sounds half-awake by design, murmured flows drifting over murky, cloud-rap production while the lyrics circle addiction, paranoia, loyalty and fleeting luxury. A cult hero to a generation of underground fans, he has inspired plenty of imitators, but few manage his particular blend of detachment and vulnerability.

The album is one of his most expansive projects, a long, immersive sequence that rewards listening from start to finish. Picky Demons, No Stars in Maybachs and Loyal Snake keep his murmured, melancholy style front and centre, each one drifting by like a half-remembered night. Roundtripski, released as a single the day before the album, keeps the woozy momentum rolling as the record heads toward its outro.

The title may read like a public service announcement, but the record is pure LUCKI, intimate and foggy and quietly addictive, with every line delivered like a confession he half hopes you miss. For fans who have followed him since the mixtape days, this double vinyl edition gives the album the room it needs, and a proper home on the shelf.
