Lizzy McAlpine's Older (and Wiser) lands on vinyl as a gatefold double LP, pairing her acclaimed 2024 album with its deluxe chapter and a set of live recordings.

Older was her major-label debut and a deliberate step away from the glossier production of Five Seconds Flat. After early sessions felt wrong, she re-recorded much of it with a live band at Nuffer Ranch in Pasadena, capturing most songs in a take or two, and you can hear the room breathing around her. The five deluxe songs followed later that year, cut at Electric Lady Studios in New York, and the record closes with performances from the Older tour.

The songwriting is unflinching. "The Elevator" opens the album in a hush, "Older" weighs growing up against everything it costs, and "I Guess" lets a small, aching melody do the heavy lifting. From the deluxe material, "Pushing It Down And Praying" carries that same raw candor into new territory.

Relationships, grief and self-acceptance sit at the heart of it all, delivered with a restraint that makes the big moments hit harder when they finally arrive.

It is a record that rewards patience, best heard with the lights low and nowhere else to be, and the gatefold gives it the room it deserves.
