Little Big Town go back to the sound of real voices in a room on It's A Dying Art, their 2026 album for MCA Nashville, pressed on red vinyl.
Produced by Karen Fairchild alongside Gena Johnson, who first worked with Fairchild on Shelby Lynne's Consequences of the Crown, the record grew slowly out of writing sessions the band never planned to turn into an album. Its title came from conversations about how much work enduring love takes, and about human connection fraying in an age of screens and artificial intelligence. Johnson's ear for the quartet's harmonies sits at the heart of it.
For the first time, a Little Big Town album features guest artists. Ashley Monroe joins on "Sucker For A Sad Song", Jason Isbell lends his voice to "The Door", and Kelsea Ballerini turns up on "Closing Time". Lead single "Hey There Sunshine" brightens the middle of the record, a reminder of how effortlessly Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet can lift a melody together.
The band have embraced the record's rough edges as part of its beauty, and the four voices sound warm and close, as if gathered around one microphone. On red vinyl, it is a heartfelt return to the harmonies that made them one of country music's most beloved groups.
