Light Years is the 2000 album that relaunched Kylie Minogue as the queen of disco-pop, spread here across two 140g LPs.
Her seventh studio album and first for Parlophone, it marked a decisive turn away from the indie-leaning experiments of her late-90s work. Minogue embraced glitter, camp and pure dancefloor joy, and the result was one of the most celebrated comebacks in pop. It was also the year she sang at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, and the record carries that same sense of a homegrown star stepping confidently back into the global spotlight.
"Spinning Around" is the irresistible calling card, a sparkling disco revival that announced her return in style. "On a Night Like This" offers glossy, euphoric club-pop, while "Your Disco Needs You" is a gloriously over-the-top camp anthem that has to be heard to be believed.
