Kings of Leon go back to basics on EP #2, a four-song release on red vinyl and the band's first independent record, issued through their own Love Tap Records.

The Followills spent the better part of two decades as one of rock's biggest arena draws, moving from the scrappy Southern garage of their early days to stadium-sized choruses. After 2024's Can We Please Have Fun and a pair of collaborations with Zach Bryan, they surprise-released this short, sharp set in 2025, their first EP in many years and the first music they produced entirely themselves.

That self-produced freedom shows. "All The Little Sheep" opens on thick, distorted chords and Caleb Followill's unmistakable rasp, while "To Space" flirts with political commentary without ever spelling it out. "Pit To The Rind" strips things back to sparse instrumentation, letting the space between notes do the work, and "The Wolf" edges toward the same pointed territory as it brings the record to a close.

Four songs is a small window, but it is a revealing one, catching a veteran band loosening its grip and following instinct over formula.

Collectors tracking the full Kings of Leon story will find this red pressing an unusual and welcome entry in the catalogue, and a hint of where the band might head next.
