Teenage Gizzard rewinds King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to their scrappiest beginnings, pressed here on 180-gram pink and yellow vinyl.

First released in 2020 as part of the band's bootleg series, this compilation gathers the very first music they ever recorded, cut in 2010 and 2011 when they were still a young garage band from Melbourne. It collects their first two singles and their B-sides, the four songs from their unofficial debut EP Anglesea, and one track that had never been released. Most of it was recorded in Anglesea, a coastal town on Victoria's Surf Coast, and you can almost hear the salt air.

Their very first single, "Hey There," is a blast of fuzzy, reverb-soaked garage rock, and its flip side "Ants and Bats" already shows a taste for oddball imagery. Second single "Sleep" follows close behind, and the closing "Life Is Cool," the long-lost rarity, wraps things up with a wink.

These songs are rough around the edges in all the right ways, full of the restless energy that would soon fuel dozens of albums.

It is a charming snapshot of a band caught before anyone knew what was coming, and an essential piece of the puzzle for any serious Gizzard collection.
