Kim Deal's Live at the Barbican captures her first ever concert with an orchestra, recorded in London in 2025 and pressed here as a 2LP set on pink vinyl, due in 2026.

The show grew out of her 2024 solo debut, Nobody Loves You More, an album years in the making, with some songs dating back to 2011 and much of it recorded with the late Steve Albini. On stage at the Barbican she was joined by a 25-piece orchestra, the Shards choir and her band, with Teenage Fanclub's Raymond McGinley stepping in as a special guest.

The set mixes solo material with songs from across her career. Nobody Loves You More opens the night, its lush, swaying melody a natural fit for strings, and Coast follows with a breezy lift that the extra voices only amplify. Breeders favourites take on new shapes too, as Safari and Off You are reworked with the orchestra and choir wrapped around them.

Through it all, Deal sounds relaxed and wry, as if she is enjoying the surprise of hearing her songs dressed up this way.

For fans of The Breeders and Pixies, it is a rare chance to hear a familiar voice in an unfamiliar, beautifully arranged setting.
