KAYTRANADA's TIMELESS stretches out across a gatefold double LP, a 2024 album that treats the dance floor like a living room full of very talented friends.

The Montreal producer had spent years turning his swung, bouncy drums and plush chords into a signature sound, and here he refines it into something lush and confident. He produced the record himself, with a handful of trusted collaborators adding extra touches, and the guest list reads like a who's who of modern R&B, rap and dance music.

"Witchy" pulls Childish Gambino into his orbit, while "Do 2 Me" brings Anderson .Paak and SiR together, two of modern R&B's smoothest voices on one track. "Spit It Out" with Rochelle Jordan sets the tone early with bright, house-leaning shimmer, and "Lover/Friend" closes this pressing on a warm, tender note. In between, Tinashe, Don Toliver, Channel Tres and Ravyn Lenae each find their own corner of his rhythmic world.

The basslines are elastic and the hi-hats crisp, and the whole thing moves with an ease that makes complicated production sound effortless.

It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and on four sides of vinyl it plays like the best kind of house party, from the first track to the last.
