Katy Perry heads straight for the dance floor on 143, her 2024 album, pressed here on silver vinyl that suits its glitterball mood.
The title is numeric shorthand for "I love you" and also Perry's angel number, which sets the mood for a bright, upbeat record. Her seventh studio album and first since Smile in 2020, it was conceived as a dance party from the start, with Perry reuniting with longtime collaborators including Max Martin and Stargate and leaning into dance-pop and Europop textures. The guest list is stacked, featuring 21 Savage, Kim Petras, Doechii and JID.
Lead single "Woman's World" opens the album as a glossy empowerment anthem, while "Lifetimes" chases a sunlit, hands-in-the-air rush. "I'm His, He's Mine" pairs Perry with Doechii over a house-flavoured groove, and "Gorgeous" with Kim Petras is all glitter and attitude. The production stays bright and maximal from start to finish, built for big speakers rather than quiet reflection, with Perry's voice front and centre over every throbbing beat.
It is an unapologetically sugary record, made for loud rooms and late nights with friends. Fans of the Teenage Dream era will find plenty of that same neon energy here, and the silver pressing suits it perfectly.
