Kate Bush ended a twelve-year silence with Aerial, her 2005 double album, presented here remastered on gold 180-gram vinyl as a UK import with booklet.

After The Red Shoes in 1993, Bush stepped away to raise her son and seemed content to let the world wonder. When she returned, it was with one of the most serene and ambitious records of her career, split into two distinct halves: A Sea of Honey, a set of songs drawn from domestic life, and A Sky of Honey, a continuous suite that follows the passage of a summer's day from afternoon light through to the next dawn.

King of the Mountain, the comeback single, ponders Elvis and the weight of fame over a rolling, reggae-tinged groove. Pi finds unexpected beauty in singing the digits of the famous number, Mrs. Bartolozzi turns a washing machine into a strange, sensual reverie, and Bertie is a tender, early-music love song to her son. On the second disc, birdsong, piano and soft percussion carry the listener toward a euphoric finale.

Aerial is a record of patience and wonder, the work of an artist entirely at peace with her own pace. This gold double LP set, complete with its booklet, honours that warmth beautifully, and it sounds glorious on a quiet evening.
