A hundred years after B.B. King's birth, Joe Bonamassa throws the King of the Blues a celebration worthy of the name, spread across three LPs.

Bonamassa first opened for King as a 12-year-old in 1989, and the two went on to share stages many times, so this tribute comes from real kinship rather than distant admiration. Made with King's estate and produced by Bonamassa with Josh Smith, the 2026 set borrows its name from King's 1993 duets album Blues Summit and stretches to more than thirty songs, almost every one built around a guest.

The line-up reads like a roll call of modern blues. Christone "Kingfish" Ingram kicks things off on Paying The Cost To Be The Boss, and Buddy Guy trades lines on a slow, smouldering Sweet Little Angel. Slash, Shemekia Copeland and Myles Kennedy take on When Love Comes To Town, King's famous collaboration with U2, while George Benson brings silky jazz phrasing to There Must Be A Better World Somewhere.

Bonamassa plays the gracious host throughout, letting each guest shine while his own stinging leads keep a thread of Lucille's spirit running from side to side. Larkin Poe, Keb' Mo', Warren Haynes and Gary Clark Jr. are among the many others dropping by.

It's a big, generous party that sends listeners straight back to the source.
