Released in 2009 as his eleventh studio album and the third chapter in the Blueprint series, it arrived through his new Roc Nation venture after he bought out the remainder of his Def Jam contract. Kanye West and No I.D. shape much of the album's grand, soulful sound, and D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune) fires a pointed shot at the studio trend of the moment. Run This Town unites him with Rihanna and Kanye for a stadium-sized anthem, while Empire State Of Mind, with Alicia Keys delivering the soaring hook, became an instant love letter to New York. A young J. Cole earns an early co-sign on A Star Is Born.
