Inspiral Carpets return with Burn Like The Sun, their first studio album in twelve years, offered here as a UK import pressing.

Original singer Stephen Holt fronts the band once more, alongside Clint Boon on keyboards and backing vocals, Graham Lambert on guitar, Martyn Walsh on bass and Kevin Clark on drums. Recording took place at Blueprint Studios in Manchester, a fitting home for a band so closely tied to the city's late-1980s explosion. The return to writing came in the years after the death of drummer Craig Gill in 2016.

First single Drag The Bag was produced by Jagz Kooner, whose credits include Primal Scream, Oasis and Kasabian, and it sits second in an eleven-song running order opened by the title track. Touching From A Distance Too Far and Wolf At The Door are among the titles further in, and Clint Boon's distinctive organ remains the band's calling card.

Professor Brian Cox, once a keyboard player himself with the band Dare, narrated the announcement video, a playful nod back to the band's Saturn 5 single.

The band frame it as the next step rather than a comeback, and for fans who have stuck with them since the Oldham days, that feels exactly right.
