Swedish metalcore band Imminence go bigger than ever on Axis Mundi, a 2026 album presented as a gatefold double LP on red and black vinyl.
Since forming in Trelleborg, the band have built their sound around Eddie Berg, a frontman who moves between soaring cleans and ragged screams, often with a violin in hand to cut through the heaviest breakdowns. After self-releasing The Black and revisiting two earlier albums with fresh recordings, they signed with Sumerian for this sixth studio album. Berg, guitarist Harald Barrett and Henrik Udd produced it, with Drew Fulk and Lukas Geppert adding co-production.
Recorded between 2024 and 2026 in Gothenburg and near Malmö, it is the first Imminence record to bring outside collaborators into the creative process, and it shows in the sheer scale. Lead single "The Sword That Never Bends" arrived first, followed by "False Light," "Crestfallen" and "If Not Now, When" as the album's other singles, and across eleven tracks crushing riffs and Berg's soaring violin share the spotlight.
With Joakim Möller behind the drums, the production is enormous but never cluttered, giving the strings room to sing.
For fans of modern metalcore with a symphonic streak, it is the band's most ambitious statement yet.
