Sometimes the bravest move is starting from scratch, and Imagine Dragons' LOOM, pressed on Coke bottle green vinyl, is a concise, upbeat 2024 album about new beginnings from the Las Vegas band.
Their sixth studio album is also their leanest, with the standard version running just nine tracks. After longtime producers Mattman & Robin suggested setting aside a pile of tour-written demos, the band wrote and recorded a fresh batch over six months. It was also their first album as a trio, and the title nods to the classic adventure video game that first sparked Dan Reynolds' love of music.
"Wake Up" opens with a rush of momentum, while "Eyes Closed" stomps along on a chant-ready hook built for arenas. "Nice to Meet You" leans into the album's theme of second chances with bright, bouncing optimism, and "Take Me to the Beach" adds a breezy, carefree streak that feels like a deep breath after a long year.
Short enough to play front to back in one sitting, it shows a band rediscovering the fun in big, bright pop rock. It is the sound of a band choosing focus over sprawl, and it suits them. The translucent green pressing looks the part too, especially with the sun coming through the window.
