Released in 2014, this was the band's second album, cut after they shortened their name from The Hotel Year, and it arrived at exactly the right moment for a scene rediscovering that emo could carry genuine emotional stakes rather than just aesthetic signifiers. Christian Holden's lyrics don't flinch from anything, addiction, grief, and identity all handled with a directness that made the record feel less like a collection of songs and more like a document someone needed to write to survive something specific.

The Scope of All This Rebuilding opens the record with a scream that's become one of the genre's most quoted moments, cathartic in a way that earns every bit of its intensity. Your Deep Rest confronts a friend's suicide head-on, unflinching in a way few records in this scene had attempted before. Housebroken carries real menace beneath its more restrained delivery, and Dendron closes the album on something exhausted and unresolved rather than neatly healed.
