Heart's Greatest Hits gathers the Wilson sisters' finest early years onto one remastered double LP, from the first fiery singles to the early 1980s.

Ann and Nancy Wilson broke through in the mid-1970s as something rock radio had rarely heard: a hard-hitting band led by two women who could out-sing and out-play almost anyone. Ann's soaring voice and Nancy's acoustic flourishes and crunching rhythm guitar married folk delicacy with Led Zeppelin-sized muscle. Few acts of the era balanced tenderness and thunder so convincingly, and this collection traces that remarkable run across seventeen tracks.

"Barracuda" is the headline act, a galloping, furious riff aimed squarely at the music industry's sleaze. "Crazy on You" opens with a flurry of Nancy's acoustic guitar before erupting into pure desire, while "Magic Man" slinks along on a hypnotic groove. "Dog & Butterfly" shows off the band's gentler, folkier side, and a live take on Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" makes the influence explicit.

There is also the once-unreleased "Strong, Strong Wind", a welcome curiosity for longtime fans who thought they had heard everything.
