The World of Hans Zimmer - Best Of condenses the composer's touring spectacular into a limited collector's edition of two 140 gram LPs with etched sides.
Zimmer's World of Hans Zimmer shows reimagined his film music as concert suites for full orchestra, choir and soloists, arranged by Zimmer himself. This set pulls highlights from those albums, featuring the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under Martin Gellner and the Odessa Orchestra conducted by Gavin Greenaway, with voices and instruments from some of the original film recordings.
The tracklist reads like a tour of modern blockbuster cinema. The Dark Knight Orchestra Suite builds its famous tension from pulsing strings and brass, while The Rock Suite brings back the muscular, heroic swagger of his nineties action years. The Lion King Suite: Part 2 features Lebo M, the voice behind the film's iconic opening chant, and Gladiator Orchestra Suite: Part 3, Now We Are Free brings in Lisa Gerrard's haunting vocal. Interstellar Suite: Part 1, Day One swells with church organ and slow-building wonder.
Each suite is rebuilt for the concert hall, with the scale and energy of a stadium show. For Zimmer fans, the etched collector's pressing makes a handsome souvenir of music that has defined a generation of moviegoing.
