It's been ten years since Grouplove met on a commune in Greece and brought the idea of forming a band back to California. They'd never have anticipated making it this far: four albums, multiple chart-topping singles across alternative and pop formats, a Grammy nomination, and critical acclaim from outlets such as Rolling Stone, which heralded the group as "a band who have perfected big, radio-friendly rock songs." An evolution from their last record, 'Healer,' 'This is This' shows the band returning to a sound that's far more bare and aggressive. Recorded in a burst of a few days, the songs quickly emerged in full: words, riffs, rhythms, backing vocals, containing all the excitement and relief that came with finally being able to spend time in a room together after being apart because of the pandemic.
