East Infection Vinyl
East Infection is Gogol Bordello at its most contagious, a 2005 EP that packs gypsy punk chaos, violins and sing-along fury into six restless tracks.
Formed in New York by Ukrainian-born frontman Eugene Hütz, the band built a global following with a mix of Eastern European folk, punk, dub and cabaret played at breakneck speed, and their live shows were always the real event. This EP arrived as their profile was rising, giving fans extra material in the same wild spirit and offering newcomers a quick, potent introduction to the whole circus.
East Infection, the title track, sets the contagious tone, Ave. B nods to the New York streets where the band made its name, and Strange Uncles from Abroad plays like a manifesto for outsiders everywhere, all stomping rhythms and swirling fiddle.
Six tracks, plenty of sweat and not a moment of restraint. This is party music with a conscience, loud enough for the dance floor and bold enough to celebrate immigrant energy, outsider pride and the joy of making a racket together. On vinyl it feels like a sweaty club show, a quick shot of Gogol Bordello that leaves the room shouting for more.
