Monster is the 2014 mixtape that reset Future's career, pressed here on 150-gram vinyl and every bit as murky and magnetic as the day it dropped.

Coming off the polished major-label album Honest, Future went back into the studio with Metro Boomin, who served as executive producer and shaped much of the tape's sound. It became the first chapter in a celebrated run that continued with Beast Mode and 56 Nights, a stretch many fans still rank above anything else he has made.

"Radical" opens with eerie, drifting synths before Future's melodic flow takes over, and the title track "Monster" is a slow-burning, menacing statement of intent. "After That" features the tape's only guest verse, from Lil Wayne, and "Codeine Crazy" is the emotional heart of it all, a woozy, Auto-Tuned confession that turns pain into something hauntingly beautiful.

The production is built on cavernous 808s and minor-key menace, with Southside, TM88 and DJ Spinz among the beatmakers alongside Metro, and the mood rarely lifts above midnight.

Long regarded as one of his finest works, it captures Future at his most raw and inventive, with his melodies and his darkness in perfect balance, and the heavier pressing gives that low end real weight on a proper system.
